Texas Tech No. 1 In ESPN College Football Fan Poll
Breaking News: There's Nothing To Do In Lubbock, Texas
What do you do if you're not one of the established college football giants and are on the outside looking in during the 2008 National Championship race? You stick it to the man by getting everyone in your dorm, your mother, your sister, you get new IP addresses and damnit, you vote your school No. 1 in the ESPNU Fan Poll.

Check out the comedy to the right.

That's right, Texas Tech is No. 1 in ESPN's fan poll which further confirms there isn't much to do in Lubbock, Texas other than drink and see if you can walk-on to the football team as a kicker.

Even more amusing is that TCU, Boise State, Minnesota, Ball State, Utah and Tulsa all find themselves in the Top 11. High comedy.

Meanwhile, Texas finds itself at No. 17. Bravo, Bevo.

While no one has actually voted, it should be noted the FanIQ Top 25 Poll looks much, much more reasonable.

We should try and make that happen.

Are we really surprised by the fact that there is not a lot to do in Lubbock?

I agree.  If we make a site-wide effort to promote voting for Washington State, perhaps they'll realize how absurd it is to list their fan poll right on the same page as the other polls.  I don't disagree with a fan poll, but at least give it its own page or something.

Actually doing the poll on there myself, you're given a few more nice little tidbits.

Out of the 137,340 that voted - 78,975 voted TTU #1. Less than half, Texas got 36,514 #1 votes..

And while I tried to vote for Wazzu...they only picture 30 teams for you to vote.

Maybe we can do a write in candidate, like Hobo State Community College.

I think they've already programmed the system for that written in vote to be allotted to Miami (FL)

Yeah, they only let you vote on the Top 30.  I think that means we should vote for #30 to be #1 and go up the line.

Man, ESPN already has Texas Tech #1, not sure how much worse we could make it anyway.

Gotta love the fans right?

TCU, Boise State, Minnesota, Ball State, Utah and Tulsa

wow, top 11?  all good non BCS teams but none of them deserve to be in the top 15 in my opinion, not a single one. But may I just add what a great job the coaching staffs at these schools have done to get these schools where they are. TCU is consistently a great non BCS team, Boise State falls under that as well. Tim Brewster has done a WONDERFUL job turning a 1 win team into a 7-1 team. Ball State was pretty lackluster a few years ago if you remember. And Tulsa could put up some points on ANY team in the country.

Minnesota is a BCS team.

Wait, nevermind.  They're in the Big Ten.
