Since Its Thanksgiving, What Should We Be Thankful For In The Sports World?

While we really should always be thankful for what we have, we always do a good job of showing our thankfulness this week every year.  Heck, most of us even get off of work for Thanksgiving so what's not to be thankful for?  But what do we have to be thankful for in the world of sports? Glad you asked, here's a quick list.

Peyton Manning

For being the one guy keeping Brett Favre from an MVP at this point.

Brandon Jennings
For amazing NBA fans on a near nightly basis.

Ron Artest and Rasheed Wallace
For adding a heavy dose of crazy to NBA's top two contenders.

TCU and Boise State
For creating yet another nightmare for the BCS.

Chad Ochocinco
For showing you can win and have fun at the same time.

Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, and Jeff Gordon
For giving us definitive proof that Dale Jr just isn't that good.

Bud Adams
For reminding us we should always keep an eye on our senile elders.

Cleveland Browns
Because at least your team isn't that bad or crazy.

Sidney Crosby
For allowing your facial hair to be more manly than at least one NHL player.

Dan Snyder
For reminding us that unlimited money and power don't equate to success or happiness.

Tim Tebow
ESPN says we should be, but I really don't know why.

Albert Pujols
For being an all-time great that we can all like and be a fan of.

LeBron James
For allowing us to torture Cleveland fans all year, even if he does stay.

Jon Scheyer and Kyle Singler
For keeping it easy to hate Duke despite the fall off in success.

Charlie Weis
For keeping it easy to hate Notre Dame despite the fall off in success.

There's my shortlist.  Clearly, this could have gone on for quite a while.  What people, teams, or events are you thankful in the world of sports and why?

I'm thankful that Pittsburgh has the Steelers and Penguins to compensate for the incompetent baseball team that (attempts to) play all summer.

I'm thankful that the Mariners still have Hernandez on the mound and Ken Griffey Jr. in the locker room for another year.

I'm thankful that the Ducks got rid of Pronger in the off-season and got Lupul back. (Now they just need to find the drive again.)

I'm thankful that that the Seahawks are a little healthier this season than they were last, and that Tim Ruskell's tenure is coming to an end (holding out hope he isn't re-signed).

I'm thankful I get FSNW and can catch my Gonzaga games even though I don't live there anymore.

Wow...for someone whose teams have been mostly horrible this past season, I found some stuff to be grateful for. Thanks Mike!

And I have to agree with Andi - I'm thankful for this site and my fellow sports fans!

I'm thankful that the Yankees, Lakers, Patriots, etc. don't win everything every single year and that occasionally a team does break through and win a title.

I'm thankful that soccer in the US is bigger now than ever and that it continues to grow.

I'm thankful that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are giving boxing fans something to look forward to.

I'm thankful that Usain Bolt hasn't tested positive for anything yet.

I'll always be thankful for the Braves bringing Atlanta a World Series title in 1995. Most people tend to focus on the times they didn't win, I prefer to focus on the time that they did.

1995 was a magical year for me. And you're right. No team has matched or probably ever match their run of consecutive division titles.

I am thankful for NO finally having a great season, and showing a lot of promise
I am thankful for Tony Stewart stepping out to run his own team, despite noone giving a chance for success.

I'm thankful for the Blackhawks who are currently riding a 7 game winning streak.  I'm also thankful for Michigan State basketball for their early season dominance thus far.  Without those two teams, I may go into hibernation like my Bears have done....thanks Cutler, you brought a real winners mentality.

I am thankful that we can enjoy sports instead of just trying to survive day to day like so many people past and present had to do.  That said, GO LIONS! I am thankful that they actually have a player or two that may be able to win a game or two.  Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
