That's The Way I Like It

I like'em when they're easy, and the Bobcats never really challenged the Bulls last night. While it's not as busy as it has been the past couple of Saturdays, there's still plenty of "challenges" for us to look at today. We better cut to the chase and get right to work.

THE NBA (7-5 last night and 20-14 so far for the week)

SU WINNERS (8-4 last night and 22-12 so far for the week)

Nuggets, Cavs, Heat, Pacers and Hawks

a As far as my stats are concerned, I'm coming out with 2 ties tonight in the Rockets/WIZARDS and Jazz/CLIPPERS games.

TOTALS (5-7 last night and 18-16 so far for the week)

OVERS - Rockets/WIZARDS (208 1/2), Nuggets/BOBCATS (209), Pacers/PISTONS (188), Hawks/BUCKS (202 1/2) and Jazz/CLIPPERS (196 1/2)

UNDERS - Cavs/MAGIC (200) and Heat/76ERS (185)

BUTTA (1-0 last night and 3-0 so far for the week)

1. Pacers (-3) over PISTONS - According to the way the stats break down for this game, it looks like it will be a lot closer than I think it will be. That's partly due to the way I break things down. I'll take a team's last 4 performances, in this case for the Pacers, their last 4 road games and put those up against the home team Pistons' last 4 home games. Tainting the numbers for this game is the fact that 3 of the Pacers last 4 road games were in 3 of the toughest home courts in the league (Portland, Utah and Denver). The Pistons simply don't have the kind of home mojo that any of those teams have, so I think the Pacers will roll like they did last night against a Detroit squad that will be playing their 4th game in 5 nights. Pacers 99, PISTONS 94

ALL THE REST

1. WIZARDS (+2) vs. Rockets - The Rocks style of play doesn't lend itself to success in b2b situations, and they're only 3-8 SU in those spots on the road so far this season. Houston also looks to be shorthanded again tonight as they wait for the "new blood" to show up. Rockets 106, WIZARDS 106

2. BOBCATS (+8 1/2) vs. Nuggets - I wouldn't go near this one for anything, but the Nugs are a lot like the Rocks in that they're only 2-7 SU in b2b closers on the road. Nuggets 102, BOBCATS 109

3. Cavs (-5 1/2) over MAGIC - The Cavs are the better team, but I'm not sure I want to trust them with this many points on the road. Not even against the lowly Magic, who battled hard last night in Memphis but will be playing their 4th game in 5 nights tonight. Cavs 105, MAGIC 89

4. Heat (-7) over 76ERS - The Champs have served notice in their first 2 games out of the break that they are taking things seriously. There's no reason to think they'll slow down tonight against the offensively challenged Sixers. Heat 85, 76ERS 72

5. Hawks (+4) at BUCKS - I don't know if the Bucks helped themselves all that much with the acquisition of Redick. Gustavo Ayon may end up being the make or break piece of that whole deal. Either way, the numbers don't look good for the home team in this matchup. Hawks 106, BUCKS 99

6. Jazz (+9) at CLIPPERS - It must be considered that the Clips will want to make amends for getting blown off their home floor last time out by the Spurs, but the Jazz can run a lot of good and effective big bodies out there. If Utah can slow the Clips down and make them play a half court game, this one will be as close as the projection shows. Jazz 102, CLIPPERS 102

COLLEGE HOOPS (7-5 ATS/8-3 SU/7-5 TOTALS on Thursday and 30-25/38-16/25-30 so far for the week)

Not as many games as the last couple of weeks due to the fact that conferences like the MAC and WAC are taking the weekend off to play non-conference games and that the only Big Ten+2 game on the slate for today is the one that was snowed out on Thursday.

BUTTA (no play on Thursday and 3-1 so far for the week)

1. N. CAROLINA (-5 1/2, U159) 88, N. Carolina St. 67 - The Heels are starting to round into shape as we get closer and closer to The Madness. The favorite is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 games in this series, and State is only 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games and 3-9 ATS in the last 12 games in this series. There's also revenge in play here on the side of the Heels, who lost the previous meeting with the Pack this year, 83-91.

2. OKLAHOMA (-3 1/2, U139) 75, Baylor 57 - Baylor has had a bit of a rough go of it lately and facing the Sooners today won't help that. The Bears are only 7-20 ATS in their last 27 meetings in this series, and the Sooners are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games.

As we start to wind down regular season conference play with the kids, we're starting to see more and more last home game "Senior Day" situations that can often give us a good angle to play with. Senior Day is a very important day in a college basketball player's career, so you might want to watch out for the team's that are in that spot today: ARKANSAS ST., LOUSIANA, MIDDLE TENNESSEE ST., S. ALABAMA, ARIZONA ST. and OREGON ST. So far this season, we've had 2 Senior Day situations, and the home team has gone 1-1 ATS/SU in those games. Just something to think about.

Have a fantastic Saturday! Be careful out there, and I'll see you again tomorrow.
