The Buccaneers' new uniforms are apparently a tribute to the Arena Football League

Blog Photo - The Buccaneers' new uniforms are apparently a tribute to the Arena Football LeagueThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers introduced their new helmets a while ago, and they weren't really a huge departure from the old ones. They enlarged the logo on the side of the helmet, but overall it was pretty similar.

Today, they tweeted out a picture and a link to their new uniforms, and once you put it all together, they're a pretty extreme change.

The Bucs say that it's a nod to both the past and the future. There's definitely a nod to the 'creamsicle' uniforms of the past, and there's definitely also some seriously futuristic features, like the digital-style lettering. Dashes of pewter and red color blocking also come from their past, but more recent past than the creamsicle uniforms.

The pattern on the shoulders is definitely reminiscent of Arena Football uniforms of old, which gave rise to some dissent in the comments section of the Bucs' official statement revealing the uniforms.

Some Bucs fans are less than thrilled with them, and Pro Football Talk even went so far as to call them 'garish.'

What do you think of the Bucs' new uniforms? Would you say they're a bit too much? Or are they a nice nod to both the past and the future of Buccaneers football?

I had to come back. I so wish I could give you more respect, cause I am having such a giggle fit over "hammock". Now when they bend over I'm going to be thinking "swing"

It's okay as a stripe though...as long as I can't see their hammocks, we're all good.

Not a fan of white on football or any sports uniforms. Like Jess mentioned, when they start to sweat it becomes very unattractive.

Maybe a wide white stripe with the way the orange and red are now? Or maybe full red with the orange flag-like sash it has now? I dunno. I hate orange.

Hmmm, instead of just photoshopping it I should've done a more thought out vector. It'll give something to do on the side...

I'm just a fan of full length piping if you're going to do it. Maybe the one thick red one? idk? But the new fangled ones like the Bucs have drive me crazy, lol

No likey. Also, I liked the pewter better...except on the booty after the first few snaps when the sweat started saturating it.

I'm not a big fan of brown or orange (or marigold) actually. I'm glad they're not my team...I probably wouldn't buy any of their gear.

Not a fan of the road jersey with Black on the top which I have not been a fan of it like Titans jersey home  away, Bills away were ugly home was too navy blue for my liking 2002-2010. I liked Red jerseys from Bucs they didn't need to change the jersey.

They don't look any worse than the others. I think they are kinda cute.

I don't see the problem with them. They don't seem to be as flashy as some uniforms I have seen.

Ew
