The Dallas Yankees?
READ MORE:
NFL
Dallas, Texas.  A place Texans love for their traditions and hospitality.  The place where Debbie went wild.  The place where JR was shot.  A place known for some of the best college football games in history.  A place where Oklahoma and Texas battle it out every year at the Cotton Bowl in the Red River Shootout.  A place where one of the dynasties of NFL football began in the 1990's with players such as Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, Jay Novacek, Alvin Harper, Darryl Johnston and led by Dapper Dan himself (sorry for the weak hairstyle joke) Jimmy Johnson.  The people of Dallas thought Jerry Jones was beginning another dynasty by bringing in some of the top names in the NFL.  HA!
Dallas is now the place where people try to make an instant all star team and end up screwing themselves into the ground.  The last couple years have seen the Cowboys add players such as Terrell Owens, Tank Johnson, Adam "Don't call me Pacman" Jones, Zach Thomas, and rookie Felix Jones to go with Roy Williams, Terrance Newman, DeMarcus Ware, Jay Ratliff, Jason Witten and Tony Romo.  Sounds like such a talented team, how could the Cowboys lose even one game?  If you do not pay attention to history, no matter how long ago or how recent, you are doomed to repeat it.
The Cowboys are never going to win the Super Bowl with a team that has this many problem children, crybabies, and attention seekers.  Look at the Cincinnati Bengals.  Chad Johnson and Chris Henry with Carson Palmer throwing to them.  Carson Palmer is a pretty good quarterback, but when he has people always yapping in his ear like Johnson always does, it's going to throw him off.  It takes away from him concentrating to find the open receiver and causes him to look solely for Johnson.  The same thing is happening with Romo and TO.  Tony Romo is trying to find the open receiver, but when Owens is constantly yapping in his ear, it causes Romo to look solely for him.  That is not the way you win Super Bowls, or for that matter even get to them.  Look at the Patriots.  Even though they didn't win the Super Bowl last year with Brady and Randy Moss, you didn't see quite as much bickering on the sidelines as you do with the Cowboys.  Moss wasn't even the go-to-receiver for Brady, Wes Welker was!  That goes to show, instead of always seeking out Moss, Tom Brady had total concentration to find whoever was open.
The comparison which seems the most adequate for the Cowboys is to the New York Yankees.  Alex Rodriguez plays the part of Terrell Owens and Tony Romo (for his big name and no rings to show for it, and for his off field publicity parallelling Romo and Jessica Simpson).  Andy Petitte and Jason Giami is Tank Johnson and Adam Jones.  When you have that much talent but too much bad publicity, it eats away at your team's cohesiveness.  It takes away from the chemistry of the team which is needed to win championships.  How many World Series Championships have the Yankees won since bringing in A Rod and since the steroid controversies?  Exactly.  How do you fix this problem?  Simple.  You find the causes of the problems and nip them in the bud.  Jerry Jones needs to take a long, hard look at his stars and ask himself "Is the controversy that these players bring to the table better than good players who don't have baggage who can mesh together to make a complete team?".  His answer should be clear and he will then have to make whatever moves necessary.  Until then, keep looking for the Dallas Cowboys to come up short, whether it be in the regular season, the playoffs, or the offseason.  For such an underachieving, controversy-filled team,  a Super Bowl is not coming any time soon.
