They now have him in Dodger blue for the next five years, at $85 million.

Ethier had a rough season last year between being injured and disgruntled with the organization. But now, he is the first player to be signed under the new ownership. They assured him that they'll do everything possible to win a championship, which is excellent news for fans. He said:

"Today is one of the starting points to let you guys know that they are going to do their best over the course of the next couple of months and next year to make a championship a reality. Let it be known to all you players out there who are going to be looking for a team in the next couple of years, 'Don't be afraid to look at the Dodgers and consider this a team that is going to be out there on the forefront in search of players that are going to be playing at the top every year.' "

Fans, and Ethier should have every reason to believe that ownership will keep their promise and go after some big-name players to help build up the Dodgers team even more. With Kemp, Kershaw and Ethier signed, they're already off to a good start!
