After long and tumultuous negotiations, the Saints and Drew Brees have reached an agreement that will keep Brees in New Orleans for 5 more seasons.Brees' contract is for 5 years, and worth $100 million, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Brees will reportedly get a whopping $40M in the first year of the deal, and $60M guaranteed total.
The deal was reached this morning between Saints GM Mickey Loomis and Tom Condon, Brees' agent.
The $60M guaranteed is an NFL record.
After the Bounty scandal, the Saints definitely needed to keep their all-world QB happy. They were successful in doing that, and now there's at least a shred of hope for this season, despite several important suspensions, including head coach Sean Payton.
What do you think... was this deal a good one for Brees and the Saints?

When you deserve it you DESERVE it. He was and is the face of N'awlins' ever since Katrina. He became a source of pride and galvanized the city in a way that healed spirits and hearts as well as playing major game! My hat's off to Drew!
