Most college football fans have at least heard about the Rivalry game between Alabama and Auburn known as the Iron Bowl. This is my take on the game. This game to some is just another rivalry game to others it is braging rights for a whole year. It is the end all of an arguement between an Alabama and Auburn fan that regardless of the season record this is one that you have to win for pride. Right now in 2008 Auburn has won 6 straight and looks to extend the wins to 7 in a row. Alabama on the other had has two streaks it is trying to end. It is important to end the win streak but equally as important is to win one at Bryant Denny Stadium where Alabama has never won against Auburn. A lot of people will look at the game, Alabama's record 11-0, and the fact that they are ranked number one as this being a give me game. All us fans whether you pull for Auburn or Alabama know that when it comes to the Iron Bowl nothing is a give me. Let me take you back to 1972 at that time Alabama was 11-0 and highly ranked and everyone was sure that the game was won. Most of the game Alabama did just what they had set out to do until the 4th quarter Auburn's defense forced Alabama's offense to punt from somewhere around the 20 and Auburn blocked it, recovered it, and ran it in for a touch down. A few series later deep in Tide teritory Auburn defense helt and forced them to punt again and it was blocked and recovered by Auburn and run in for a touch down. So for this fan no predictions will be make because they don't call it the Iron Bowl for nothing.
