The Isiah Saga Continues, In Kelvin Sampson Form
>7 days ago
It's amazing to me that despite everything Isiah Thomas has done to the Knicks, and all the money that he's cost them, he's still technically employed by them.Yes, that's correct. While he may have been fired from his head coaching position, he's still working for the team. Donnie Walsh will be reassigning him to some other position in the organization in the near future.
Of course, this makes perfect sense. Why on earth would you completely cut ties with a guy who destroyed your entire franchise? It best to tempt fate and keep him around and see if he can keep screwing stuff up.
But don't worry, Knicks faithful. The team has a sure-fire plan to make sure that nothing crazy happens. According to a team source, Thomas has been barred from having any contact with the team as part of his reassignment agreement. Don't worry at all about the fact that he acquired every player on the team and has coached them and knows them all personally. Something tells me this is going to wind up exactly like the Kelvin Sampson fiasco - except it'll be Nate Robinson instead of Eric Gordon getting text messages at 11pm after a game (most likely a loss).
The whole reason for this lame stunt is so that Isiah doesn't undermine whoever comes in to be the new head coach. The only problem is Isiah isn't barred from talking to James Dolan - the one man stupid enough left in the organization who'll listen to Isiah - and from everything Isiah has said, he still wants to coach at some level. I see no way this can go wrong, by which I mean I can see every way in which this can go wrong.
If Isiah were in any other industry, he would have fired 8 times by now. Instead, the Knicks are still hanging on to this guy and more or less giving him every opportunity imaginable - almost goading him - to somehow screw it up again.
Whatever the Knicks get, they deserve it. This organization is still a complete joke.
