The Jeff Green Effect
The Celtics originally drafted Green with the fifth pick and packaged him to Seattle for Ray Allen, so you knew they were already high on the kid coming out of school. And for good reason. He stands at 6'9'', can play both the small and power forward position on both ends of the floor. He's physical, can shoot the long ball and the mid-range jumper and is a team-first player.
These are all qualities every single NBA team searches for in a high impact player. Green will almost certainly be playing north of 30 minutes per game this season, mainly because he has all the tools to provide balance to a team that requires players to hold their role.
While in Oklahoma City, Green was one of the more consistent players in the league putting up around 16 points, 6 rebounds 2 assists, one block one steal all while shooting a respectable 45% from the field. The Green effect. Ironic that now his last name will become synonymous with the Celtic green. His jersey will be a high seller, especially because him and Rondo now form the future of the squad with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett heading into the twilight of their respective Hall of Fame careers.
Gang Green can get excited about the future as well with Rondo, avery Bradley and Green ready to contribute at a high level while the older stars are still around. The Green effect will allow for the Celtics to compete with the upper echelon for the next few years.
Gang Green, meet the Green Effect; the man that will escalate the productivity from Day one. He comes to work ready.
