As A Huge Rex Guy, This Is Tough For Me ... It's Over
He has zero say in the roster building on the offensive side of the ball. He has no say in the weekly preparation from Monday-Saturday. This cannot be ignored. I understand that he is a defensive minded coach, but the ability to want to improve and get more involved, will ultimately seal his fate.
Another thing is what many Jet fans say is a positive, but to me is a negative. Rex Ryan is "a players coach." Many love it -- I am sick of it. I don't want guys that Rex wants in here. I want the BEST guys in football -- not those who will come here and just be buddy-buddy and play fun. Bill Belichick's, Tom Coughlin's, etc -- they don't care if you "WANT" to play here or if it's "FUN" -- they will take you and get the best out of you, or you will go. This isn't a get together, it's a job. It's football. You either want to play to win or I don't want you. This has become the lazy way of playing football and fans are falling for it.
So sure, you will take a hit on the defensive side of the ball but it is over here. You need to bring in some fresh, new offensive minded coaches with a new philosophy and eye for talent. The Jets haven't had an offensive player worth talking about since Curtis Martin. It has been that sad here in NY/NJ. The time has finally come.
