The Jets Need To Let Rex Ryan Go

As A Huge Rex Guy, This Is Tough For Me ... It's Over

Nov 24, 2013; Baltimore, MD, USA; New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan walks on the field prior to the game against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY SportsAs a Jet fan, I have been Pro-Rex Ryan from the day he got here. Still to this day I believe there is NO better defensive coach in the game, but as a head coach, he is lacking some HUGE factors that it takes to create a consistent winner.

He has zero say in the roster building on the offensive side of the ball. He has no say in the weekly preparation from Monday-Saturday. This cannot be ignored. I understand that he is a defensive minded coach, but the ability to want to improve and get more involved, will ultimately seal his fate.

Another thing is what many Jet fans say is a positive, but to me is a negative. Rex Ryan is "a players coach." Many love it -- I am sick of it. I don't want guys that Rex wants in here. I want the BEST guys in football -- not those who will come here and just be buddy-buddy and play fun. Bill Belichick's, Tom Coughlin's, etc -- they don't care if you "WANT" to play here or if it's "FUN" -- they will take you and get the best out of you, or you will go. This isn't a get together, it's a job. It's football. You either want to play to win or I don't want you. This has become the lazy way of playing football and fans are falling for it.

So sure, you will take a hit on the defensive side of the ball but it is over here. You need to bring in some fresh, new offensive minded coaches with a new philosophy and eye for talent. The Jets haven't had an offensive player worth talking about since Curtis Martin. It has been that sad here in NY/NJ. The time has finally come.

Agree 100%. When the Jets do replace Rex, i hope they at least interview Jay Gruden from Cincy. I believe he will be a great head coach, he has had some experience in the arena league and the UFL.
