The Minnesota Vikings take CB Xavier Rhodes 25th overall
Some saw Rhodes as the top cornerback, or at least the second best cornerback in the draft. However, Rhodes is the third cornerback off the board, so this is a great value pick for Minnesota.
Some speculated that the Vikings would target Manti Te'o here, but instead with their two first-round picks Minnesota upgraded elsewhere on defense with Sharrif Floyd at defensive tackle and Rhodes in the secondary.
At 6'1", 210 lbs., Rhodes has great size as a corner to compliment his excellent ball skills. In his career, Rhodes picked off seven passes. However, just as impressive is Rhodes' ability to blitz and help in the run game.
