Over a decade later, the NFL might finally change the Tuck Rule
Finally the NFL is seriously considering changing the infamous Tuck Rule.
If you're a Raiders fan, you remember it as the moment that the NFL destroyed your franchise.
If you're a Patriots fan, you'll remember it as the time when the Raiders changed from a strong, proud franchise to a bunch of whining losers.
I guess it all depends on your perspective.
The problem with the Tuck Rule, no matter how you look at it, the plays that the Tuck Rule apply to LOOK like fumbles.
In the most famous use of the Tuck Rule, during the playoff game between the Patriots and Raiders, it really looked like Tom Brady fumbled.
After further review, it still looked like he fumbled. But because it was ruled that he was tucking the ball into his body, it was ruled as an incompletion. Even though at that point, it's undeniable that he WASN'T trying to throw the ball.
Based on the rule, it was the correct call. But the rule is insane. Perhaps that's why it's finally getting changed. Probably.
