If you missed Saturday's Bruins/Sabres tilt, then you missed this ridiculous play. It's Boston's Jeremy Reich nearly killing Buffalo's Mike Weber. Thankfully Weber got right up, and even returned to the game, but when you watch this hit, you think Weber's either broken his neck or his face is going to look flatter than a pancake when he gets up.

Now, I'm admittedly not a guy who watches a ton of hockey, but for whatever reason, this year there seem to have been some truly mind blowing hits in the NHL. And after all, shouldn't there be? Like any other sport, guys get bigger, stronger, and faster. And thus wind up nearly killing each other on a nightly basis.

The crazy thing is the Weber hit wasn't even the worst hit I've seen this year. That award goes the video below.

This was when Ryan Smyth was nearly killed by Jack Johnson. I swear to God I thought he was dead when he hit the ice. And I wouldn't have been surprised if that had happened.

There was also this Kurtis Foster broken leg, delivered by my Sharks.

Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe this year isn't any different from years past. But for some reason, it seems like it is. Which naturally means only one thing: I clearly have to start watching more hockey.
