The New Orleans Pelicans unveiled their new uniforms on Friday after changing their name from the Hornets to the Pelicans.  What makes these new uniforms somewhat unique is the fact that their home and away jerseys both say “New Orleans” on it.  There is no mention of their team name – The Pelicans.  The only other team in the NBA to feature just the name of the city that they play on is the New York Knicks.

Believe it or not, a new logo and a new jersey, can do wonders for an organization.  The Brooklyn Nets, for example, were successfully able to change the entire image of their franchise with a fresh new look and logo.  The Charlotte Hornets, formerly known as the Bobcats, are also hoping to achieve the same goal.

Unfortunately, the new Pelicans uniforms are a bit underwhelming.  The font seems a bit too small, and it lacks the pop to give the new uniforms a classic or contemporary look.  Perhaps, the Pelicans should have hired Jay-Z for consultation.
