The Giants ARE this Bad
One year, they get hot at the right time and go on to win the Super Bowl. The next year, they have a mediocre season and end up missing the postseason.
This season, there is absolutely no question. The Giants are a bad football team that will miss the playoffs for the second straight year.
Coming into this afternoon's game against the 1-3 Philadelphia Eagles, many figured that this would be the game that the Giants would get back in the willing column. As it turned, many were flat out wrong.
The Giants are now 0-5 thanks to a 36-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants had two leads in this game and were never able to build off of them and once again had trouble on defense.
Let's take a look at several reasons why the Giants lost this afternoon:
The Giants were never able to build on the leads they have were because of turnovers. The Giants turned the ball over three times, two of them on Eli Manning interceptions, which continues to be a glaring them in his game this season.
It is well known that to win football games, a team needs to do their job of protecting the football. Against the Eagles this afternoon, the Giants simply did not do that and was once again a reason why they lost a football game.
Secondly, this Giants' football team continues to give up points left and right. Coming into today's game, the Giants had given up 146 points and today, they allowed the Eagles to add 36 more to that number.
This has been another blatantly obvious theme for the Giants this season. When a team's offense is not clicking or has trouble getting into any kind of rhythm, it puts pressure on the defense to be as perfect as possible.
As can be seen in each of the five games this seasons, the Giants' defense is not anywhere near that. There have been blown coverages, a lot of big plays given up and most of this is not only because of the pressure that is being put on them, but also because of how tired they are.
Losing support of their fans
While the fans did not necessarily have an impact on the Giants losing this afternoon, it is clear that they are not happy with the play of their favorite team. The crowd got quiet once the Eagles took a 22-21 lead and then after Eli's second interception of the game, they got restless.
With just under four minutes to go in the game with the Giants having the ball, boos could be heard throughout MetLife stadium. Not only were these boos because of their team's play, but they were even mocking boos after Manning received his third grounding penalty of the game.
At 0-5 through their first five games of the season, the Giants really are this bad and have not shown any signs of improving this season. Even in a lackluster NFC East Division, these Giants really are bad football team.
