You know Rawlings, the baseball equipment company- well apparently, Rawlings was a real dude (GH Rawlings), and an amazing artist, and patented his first glove back in 1885. This is the original patent for the first-ever baseball glove from the US archives.gov publications. Look at the detail on the stitching in Figure 2.
