The Redskins took to Twitter to defend their racist name, and it went as well as you might expect
The Redskins started a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #RedskinsPride, in hopes that they could drum up support for their oft-criticized team name.
It went... poorly.
Most of the tweets were the exact opposite of what they were hoping for. Instead of people tweeting to Senator Harry Reid in support of the Redskins name, they were tweeting about why they believed the name should change, and how it is racist.
In fact, Emory University's Sports Marketing Analytics department researched the sentiment of the various tweets, and found that the tweets were increasingly negative as time went on. Click on the chart to enlarge it.
Perhaps the Redskins should take the hint.
