Einstein had a radical theory regarding Newton's thought of special relativity. His theory was spacetime becomes curved in response to the effects of matter which is in direct conflict with the Newtonian special relativity theory everyone believed.
In order to prove this theory, he had to have astronomers view and take photographs of eclipses to see if stars moved at all during an eclipse. Several times, these attempts to take photographs to prove his theory correct ended up in failure. Each time Einstein was devastated by this seeming failure. In actuality, there was actual success within these failures. If the astonomers had indeed been able to successfully take those photographs, it would have shown Einstein's initial mathematical equations flawed. Einstein was able to make the necessary corrections and the rest was history.
Mine That Bird was considered a failure and no chance to win the Kentucky Derby. He was listed as a 50 - 1 odds but as we all know, Mine That Bird blew the field away with a huge win.
So the horse the professionals considered a 'failure' surprised them all and was in all acutality a huge success.
As with life, past failures are the only thing that truly creates the drive, the focus and the edge to win.
The Success of Failure

Hence the old adage, when you lose, don't lose the lesson. Interesting to have half-siblings both finish in the money at the Belmont.
