As the Nets continue to pursue Dwight Howard via trade with the Magic, they've also been spending some time with their star point guard Deron Williams, and have now agreed to a 5-year contract worth $100M.Williams broke the news on Twitter in the form of a picture of the Nets logo.
With Williams now in the fold, the Nets will now continue to try to put together the rest of their roster.
If they're unable to acquire Howard, they'll most likely look to retain Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries, both of whom are free agents right now.
By signing Williams to a long term deal, the Nets have at least ensured that they'll have the services of one of the best point guards in the NBA for the next half-decade.
Last year, Williams averaged 8.7 assists per game with the Nets, and has averaged double digit assists in 4 seasons.
