Thiago Silva urges PSG to pursue Wayne Rooney transfer
Just as Wayne Rooney has settled down at Manchester United, calls from abroad are starting to lineup once again. Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has urged Rooney to leave the Premier League champions for the Ligue 1 champions.
A report from the Mirror shows that Silva is eager to play with Rooney. Silva insists Rooney cold have been persuaded into joining Paris Saint-Germain last summer. The Brazilian defender asked his club to pursue the matter once again in the next transfer window.
The 27-year-old England international was in doubt whether he should continue with his career at Manchester United. Rooney handed in his second transfer request in three years soon after Sir Alex Ferguson fearing that Manchester United will no longer be gunning for silverware.
With defeats against Liverpool and Manchester City, fear of Manchester United’s trophy-less campaigns has risen to new levels. Manchester United manager David Moyes is trying to bring calm to the panicked Old Trafford faithful, but there is little he can do except for winning.
It took a great deal of persuasion from Moyes to convince Rooney to stay at Manchester United. Therefore, if the club is unable to bring a trophy or record impressive results, Rooney is expected to move out the club.
“I was hopeful we would sign Wayne Rooney this summer and I am hopeful that we still can,” Silva was quoted by the Mirror. “It is clear his future at Manchester United is not certain.
“The player himself has made it clear that he would like a new challenge.
“If he still feels that way in January or even next summer then, once again I would urge him to come and join PSG. We are the most exciting project in European football and it is clear from the ambition of our owners that we are going to be successful.”
Rooney has been closely linked with Chelsea as well. The Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho admits he is an avid fan of the coveted English striker. Hence, if Rooney is in the market the Blues will definitely try to steal him from Paris Saint-Germain.
