Arsenal legend and all-time leading goal scorer Thierry Henry will return to London as a Gunner this fall. The Frenchman will join Arsenal on loan in January and stay at the club till the New York Red Bulls call him back for MLS action.
The Emirates boss Arsene Wenger believes Thierry’s Henry return to Arsenal will provide his squad with a huge morale boost. Arsene Wenger, who signed in Thierry Henry from Juventus in 1999, is eager to finalize a deal for his former player with the New York Red Bulls.
The deal between the two clubs seems quite imminent, yet Arsenal and the New York Red Bulls are still at the table finalizing the a few details in the contract. Clubs insiders from Arsenal have reported that Thierry Henry should be in London by New Year’s Eve.
Various media outlets, such as Goal.com, claim that the Thierry Henry’s loan deal has been agreed ‘in principle’. Well, the excitement in North London should be tenfold at Christmas this year.
Thierry Henry will return to London for his third spell with Arsenal. The striker has already scored 228 goals in 376 appearances for Arsenal, which makes him one of the most celebrated players of the English Premier League.
The former Barcelona forward impressed Arsenal fans by returning to his beloved club after the MLS season ended in 2012. Now, Thierry Henry has decided he wants to return to his old home for some more action.
Last year Thierry Henry was able to play in only seven games for Arsenal due to some wrangled up terms of his loan contract. However, this year the negotiations are in much more advanced form. Sources have revealed that Thierry Henry will able to play for Arsenal from January 1 to the middle of February.
This should give the Frenchman enough time to add up more goals to huge tally with Arsenal. Thierry Henry made four Premier League appearances for Arsenal in his second spell with Arsenal, which includes a memorable winner.
Arsene Wenger had already predicted a loan deal for Thierry Henry earlier in the season. The Frenchman praised the 35-year-old and admitted he had relationship with the football icon.
“A loan [for Thierry Henry] is still a possibility but we will still try to strengthen for the long term,” Arsene Wenger said.
“[Thierry] Henry is the talent that you dream to have. He has fantastic physique, fantastic technique, a fantastic brain, all built together in one man. At the start he was not confident enough but he has gone on to show what a great player he is.”
Arsenal have their fingers crossed on a six-week deal for Thierry Henry, which means the French star will be available for big games for the club. The list of clubs Arsenal are due to face in the January and February period are Southampton, Swansea, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Thierry Henry will also be available for the FA Cup and League games.
