First we had the F1 Grand Prix, then the Indianapolis 500, and now it's time for the Coca-Cola 600.On this Memorial Day weekend, if you are inside watching TV, here's hoping it's because it's raining....or that you are a really devoted fan of racing.
It isn't raining here, so I'm sneaking in a round of golf before the big race starts, but I'll be here along with you to watch and wonder at the spectacle we are about to witness.
It's hot in Charlotte today, much as it is in Indianapolis, and Mark Martin has already tweeted that he spent the last 24 hours carbo loading and hydrating himself to fuel up for the big race. I'm sure the rest of the drivers are adopting similar strategies, but we will see who has best prepared for the race, probably as the last 500 miles get underway.
It promises to be a grueling day, but any one of the favorites could be poised to take the checkers at the end. With Aric Almirola on the pole, and his teammate, Marcos Ambrose alongside, it is a huge day for Richard Petty Motorsports. It could be even better, if one of the two manages to reach the checkers first. They will have to get around the likes of Jimmie Johnson, who won last week, Dale Jr., who is going to win, any day now, Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, or Greg Biffle. All have been strong this season, and it truly is anyone's race.
As DW will say, "Boogity Boogity Boogity! Let's go racing!"

I admit I haven't been happy with some of the calls they have made this year, but I don't have the degree or knowledge that Letarte has. It just seems Jr can always run well, he just can't get it done at the end, and that has been frustrating. I just want him to get the damn win and get it over with, then I can just enjoy the racing!!
F#@k the naysayers! Hes one of the few drivers that hurts for his fans when he doesn't finish well. When he wins, and he will, it will be just that much sweeter. I'm of the mind if my boys can't win, at least let it be someone I kinda like.

I am happy for Kahne, really. I hurt for Jr., because he has been at HMS longer, and although he got those speedweeks wins at Daytona when he first signed on with them, he hasn't gotten his elusive win. I can only imagine what the naysayers will be saying. He must have very thick skin not to let things bother him. He has probably the biggest fanbase, yet also has the largest group who hate him, simply for being Dale Sr's son. For that group, nothing he does is good enough.

Congrats to Kasey Kahne. Never really been a fan and that didn't change because he moved to HMS (not a Jimmie Johnson fan either) but he raced a great race.

Nate Ryan just tweeted this was the fastest running in history: 3 hours, 51 minutes, 17 seconds.
Good on Kahne for winning. Seemed like at nearly every point I paid attention (still stoked from Indy and reading everything I can on it), it was him and Biffle dominating.
So, anyone want me to continue my tradition in race threads of posting results?

Yay, Jen!! We've had it for a few years, but must have had a power outage - I got home and the screen was small and flat looking. Checked the setting and it wasn't set in HD. Boy can you see the difference!!!
