This week's post is going to be very short because 1) I am writing this right before going out of town for a few days and 2) I already wrote almost all of a long post once and then accidentally clicked on a link, thus taking me to another page and losing the whole damn thing.
Quick recap of last week: Georgia is no longer undefeated, New Orleans beat Orlando, Dallas & Philly are still undefeated, and the Tampa Bay Storm are still terrible. Chicago is pretty good though.
Arena Football League Super 7 - After Week 4
7. New Orleans VooDoo (3-2) Up 1 spot
See, I told you they would be good at home.
6. Colorado Crush (3-2) Up 3 spots
Colorado leapfrogged New Orleans in the poll. They have a much tougher game this week though, as they travel to San Jose while New Orleans travels to winless Tampa Bay
5. Utah Blaze (4-1) No change
Nobody seems all that impressed by Utah. At the very least, they didn't get enough votes to make it past Georgia, who finally had their first loss of the season.
4. Georgia Force (4-1) Down 2 spots
This was a letdown week for Georgia. Were they looking ahead to this week's trip to Philadelphia? That will be a tough game for them to win, as Philly looks good right now.
This has been a bad year for the storied franchises. Tampa Bay hasn't won a game. Arizona has only won once, though every loss has been very close. Orlando is 2-3. San Jose is 2-2. The last 2 teams are still in decent shape for the playoffs, but Tampa & Arizona need winning streaks now if they want to get in. Remember though, last season a 7-9 regular season was good enough to get you in the playoffs, then to the title.
Back to the Super 7...
3. Chicago Rush (4-1) Up 1 spot
It's safe to say we can forget about Chicago's first game. A 66-31 win vs. L.A. proves that this team belongs among the league's elite.
2. Philadelphia Soul (4-0) Up 1 spot
Georgia's loss is Philadelphia's gain. That said, a 65-60 win over New York is nothing to get excited about. With their next 2 games at home vs. Georgia and then on the road in Dallas, this is where they will prove how good they are.
1. Dallas Desperados (5-0) #1 team for 6th consecutive week
Is it playoff time yet? As with Philadelphia, their Week 5 win wasn't convincing, but they got the job done. This week they host Columbus, who once again might be able to get a team to overlook them in preparation for a matchup with Philadelphia.
That's it for This Week in the AFL! Check back next Thursday for a recap of this week's action and a preview of the Week 7 games.
