Talk about your emotional roller coaster, it's now Thursday morning and I am wishing it was Saturday so I can go skiing and forget about everything that's happened already!  This isn't about sports, it's my personal thoughts that I felt the need to share with my FanIQ family.

First, I do want to say I received great news about 2 people yesterday.  A friend of my mother's was in a Tennessee hospital after falling ill while visiting her daughter for Christmas.  Yesterday, they took her trach out.  Also, my great aunt in California was diagnosed with myloma.  It appears she's won the battle, as her pain has finally subsided, and if all goes well, she'll be getting her last chemo treatment next week and will be able to go home.

Now, on to a week that started crappy for me and besides the 2 ladies mentioned above, has spiraled out of control!  Let me say that I'm not one to miss class...EVER!  I know how important it is.  However, Monday and Tuesday, I missed a total of 3 classes because I had no voice.  I had one of those nasty colds that settles in your throat, and couldn't talk for 2 days...blasted cold bug!  Thankfully it's much better now, and I'm able to play an instrument again instead of coughing and choking on a mouth piece.

Tuesday, as has already been mentioned, Heath Ledger was found dead in a NYC apartment...and it looks like he may have overdosed on drugs.  I still can't believe he's dead, and what irks me is that he has a little girl who will now grow up without a father.  Why would you do such a thing when you have it all?  He was THE JOKER in the new Batman movie for crying out loud!  His career was beginning to take off!  He had the good life...why would you end it all?!

I've created a poll for each of the next 2 topics already, however, here's the scoop if you haven't taken them yet.  Tuesday afternoon, 1 of my friends from high school called another of my high school friends.  He was telling her about how he had a girlfriend, and had a job, and that his life was going along pretty well.  He said "we should hang out again one of these days."  From what I've gathered, he sounded like his normal smartass, but otherwise mild-mannered self.  Last night around 11:00 PM, my friend who had told the other they should hang out came home from work.  He discovered 2 men in his apartment with his live-in girlfriend.  All 3 were students at Robert Morris University, which is roughly 2 or 3 miles from the Pittsburgh International Airport.  My friend, in what now appears to be a jealous rage, grabbed a gun, and opened fire in the apartment.  He killed the 2 young guys, ages 23 and 20, and critically injured his 20-year-old girlfriend.  He had just turned 23 years old, and had his entire life ahead of him.  Now he is in the Allegheny County Jail facing murder charges.  I have known this man for 10 years, and never in all my years would I have expected him to be capable of carrying out such a violent act.  I am in total disbelief over this, as are my former high school classmates who knew him, and who all had the same opinion of him, that he was a nice guy, and was never violent or ignorant towards anyone.

Last but not least, after missing both of my classes yesterday and sleeping past noon (which probably helped me to knock off some of this stinkin' cold), the fire alarm went off in my building around 2:30 yesterday afternoon.  I rushed to put a coat on and grab my ID card to get back in the building.  When I got to the lobby, I saw a wall of water on the door leading to the courtyard.  A pipe burst, sending water all over the lobby, laundry room, and a couple of the apartments in the building.  We can't use our cards to swipe because the electrical panel for the swiping mechanism is right there inside the wall where the pipe blew up!  These are the newest dorms on campus, and they have the most problems!  The construction was rushed, and you can tell that the workers did a half-assed job of completing the job on all 3 buildings in the complex.  We are paying this school 40-effin'-thousand dollars per year for tuition!  You'd think the least they could do is put a damn building together correctly and efficiently!

Maybe I should just go back to sleep and not wake up until Saturday morning when it's time for the ski trip.  However, I still have 2 more days of classes this week, and I hope nothing else goes wrong.  Thanks for your patience if you sat here and read my ramblings.  I appreciate it greatly, and I hope your week goes much better than mine has to this point!
