Three-Way Trade! Cavs Get Ben Wallace and Wally Szczerbiak, Bulls Get Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden

If you were pulling for another blockbuster trade, hopefully one involving 74 players will suffice. The Cleveland Cavaliers have made their big move acquiring Ben Wallace's rebounding and Wally Szczerbiak's outside shooting for starters. In total, the actual numbers of player that have apparently been deal is 11.

Here's the deal, still pending league approval:

Cavs Get
Ben Wallace
Wally Szczerbiak
Delonte West
Joe Smith
Bulls 2nd Rounder

Bulls Get
Larry Hughes
Dwight Gooden
Shannon Brown
Cedric Simmons

Sonics Get
Scrap
Ira Newble
Adrian Griffin
Donyell Marshall

First, let me do a few cartwheels that Ben Wallace has left my fine city. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Can't say I'm thrilled with what's come back in return, but whatever, Wallace is gone.

Cleveland has definitely made the best move that was available. For as much as I don't like Wallace and his ridiculous contract, the man can rebound when dedicated. Having Ilgauskas in the post will limit what Big Ben needs to do: rebound, give ball to someone else. Wally Szczerbiak certainly isn't All-Star material anymore, but the man can shoot. 42% from 3-point range will free up Lebron's path to the hoop if he can keep knocking them down.

Seattle frees up their bank account which signals some big offseason moves. Solid deal all around.

What I really want to know is will the owners of this blog continue to to keep us updated? I'd be happy to take it over.

Your thoughts on the trade? Can Cleveland win the East again?

This was the best that the Cavs could do. Wallace will do the dirty work that needs to be done. Joe Smith, well I am surprised that Joe has not been suffering from nosebleeds this season considering his play has been elevated from where it was the past few seasons. And Wally and his jelled hair will be in a role more suitable for him. Looking at the trade Cavs could get back to the finals just as long as they put Ehlo on MJ. Hey nothing could go wrong. . . .

As for the Bulls, Gooden is alright, he' just Wallace with a worse hairdo and better offensive skills and not as many rebounds. Larry Hughes, the Ballin' Billikin has been good of late, but he is too streaky and has quite a bit of mileage on him. So I think he is just he just a part to make this all work. They also got two guys from Cleveland that would be the NBA equivalent to the guys who wore the red uni's on Star Trek. They just here to get their participation medals. My only question to the Bulls is why couldn't they get Noah a new brain?

Seattle get some cap space for next year along with some gasoline, matches and old newspapers, to help with the insurance fire that will take place soon.

Again these views are that of someone who is not NBA GM, or even very bright. So take them for what they are, virtual birdcage liner.

CF was kind enough not to go all homer on this trade... but two former Miami Redhaw...er Skins were traded in this deal with Wally and Newble getting dealt.  Gotta love bringing the former Miami star back to the state of Ohio.

Decent move by the Cavs, but the Pistons are still my pick to win the East.

If Ira Newble would have just stayed with the Cavs, I might have had to become a part-time Cleveland fan.

Nice to see Wally get a chance again with a good team. He's had a strong season.

Apparently, it's Delonte West that the Cavs were after...Wally was just thrown in to make the team picture look better :)

It's all about making the salary cap numbers work...why else would we have even heard of Keith Van Horn name this week?

"Ira Newble" ?    Oh yeah, I had that condition before; was more of an itch.      A little magic lotion cleared it right up !!
