If you were pulling for another blockbuster trade, hopefully one involving 74 players will suffice. The Cleveland Cavaliers have made their big move acquiring Ben Wallace's rebounding and Wally Szczerbiak's outside shooting for starters. In total, the actual numbers of player that have apparently been deal is 11.
Here's the deal, still pending league approval:
Cavs Get
Ben Wallace
Wally Szczerbiak
Delonte West
Joe Smith
Bulls 2nd Rounder
Bulls Get
Larry Hughes
Dwight Gooden
Shannon Brown
Cedric Simmons
Sonics Get
Scrap
Ira Newble
Adrian Griffin
Donyell Marshall
First, let me do a few cartwheels that Ben Wallace has left my fine city. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Can't say I'm thrilled with what's come back in return, but whatever, Wallace is gone.
Cleveland has definitely made the best move that was available. For as much as I don't like Wallace and his ridiculous contract, the man can rebound when dedicated. Having Ilgauskas in the post will limit what Big Ben needs to do: rebound, give ball to someone else. Wally Szczerbiak certainly isn't All-Star material anymore, but the man can shoot. 42% from 3-point range will free up Lebron's path to the hoop if he can keep knocking them down.
Seattle frees up their bank account which signals some big offseason moves. Solid deal all around.
What I really want to know is will the owners of this blog continue to to keep us updated? I'd be happy to take it over.
Your thoughts on the trade? Can Cleveland win the East again?
