As I look at the schedule of games on tonight, the first thing that came to mind was how many of my friends' favorite teams are playing, in addition to my own of course.
It's still early going, with only a handful of games having been played so far, but some teams are already showing some early dominance. Thankfully, one of those teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs, are not playing tonight.
I'm a Calgary Flames' fan, as many of you know, and so far, the Flames are not burning bright. They take on the Montreal Canadiens tonight, and I'm hoping this will be the game that turns their season around. They need a win!
Becky's team, the Kings take on the New Jersey Devils. I'm not sure if Becky was going to this game, but if so, I sure hope they give her something to cheer about. Both teams are at 1-1-0 so far, and both will be aiming for another mark in the W column. The Kings won in the only matchup between the two last year, but they will play again on the 25th of this month.
The Caps (yay) meet up with the Pens (boo) tonight as well, and with both teams celebrating only wins so far this season, it should be a decent game. That game is broadcast on the NHL Network.
In Canada, the second game on TSN will be the new Winnipeg Jets meeting up for the only time this season with the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks won against the Thrashers last year in a shootout. The Jets have played only one game so far this season, so are still feeling some growing pains and the game will undoubtedly be a challenge for them.

Wideman scores in OT and the Caps win. Hard to complain about 3-0, but getting outshot 18-3 in the 3rd period was just terrible. Vokoun is the main reason Caps survived that.

The Penguins released Crosby just so he could practice? Is this some kind of scheme by the Pens to get Crosby to practice with another team only to have that teams hopes crushed when they find out he can't be medically cleared to play an actual game?
