Tiger Woods continues his slump in the world rankings. The latest world rankings have shown Tiger Woods fall from the 33rd spot to the 36th spot. The Open Champion Darren Clarke, Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez, and the latest winner from the PGA Tour Webb Simpson, have all surpassed Woods.
Well no one can say that Tiger Woods didn’t see this coming. His departure from the US Championship and eventual failure to qualify for the FedEx Cup play-offs had already placed him in a tight spot.
Woods just recently made his return to professional golf after a 3 month long absence that was a result of an injury sustained a few months earlier while playing on course. His medical team declared it to be a knee injury, which was obvious from the way Woods limped off the golf couse.
Three months later, Woods announced his comeback. Once again many were left wondering if this would be anther futile attempt by Woods to reignite his career. Well it was. Although, the former number one claims to not to rest until he has broken all standing golf records, Tiger Woods must at least realize that the task is becoming increasingly difficult.
Woods last won a major in 2007, picking up his last trophy in 2009. That alone shows the dip in his form over the past few seasons. Nonetheless, the maestro has compiled 14 major titles, which is a stunning achievement.
Simpson, who was able to acquire the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina, has been promoted from 55th position to the 33rd. On the other hand, Englishman Oliver Fisher, the winner of Czech Open has climbed up from the 50th spot to the 238th,
