I can't imagine the disappoint of watching your title contending team begin the season 0-7. I can empathize with epic collapses to end the season, but that's a whole different story. The Tigers finally won last night, and the always great Bless You Boys shares his elation and spontaneity:
"In my handful of years in sports blogging, there have been a few times when I've joked about a big win (especially one that ends a losing streak) making food taste better, the sun shine brighter, and filling me with enough inspiration to just kiss any woman I encounter on the street. There will hopefully be much bigger and more special wins this season for the Detroit Tigers. But I'm not sure any of them will bring the relief, the great exhale, that tonight's 7-2 win over the Red Sox did. And I don't think you can argue that this one wasn't important."Add that to the several texts received last night from Tigs fan friends and it's safe to say the confetti was dropped all across Michigan.
Not only did the bats warmup, which was inevitable, but the best news is the bullpen didn't allow a single run last night in Boston. Jim Leyland finally moved Renteria down in the lineup and he added three hits with two RBIs. Marcus Thames hit a big home run and all is well in Motown. Time to start a new streak.

Cardinals 6, Astros 4 - Albert Pujols had his opening day home run taken away by a rainout, but made up for it last night with his first two bombs of the year. Bigger story thus far in St. Louis, is the outstanding pitching.
Mets 8, Phillies 2 - No Jimmy Rollins meant New York could end its NINE game losing streak to Philly. FOUR Phils errors might have had something to do with that. Chase Utley already has three of his own.
Cubs 6, Pirates 4 (15) - 27 innings played the last two games. Ugh. Guess who blew the save in the bottom of the 9th? You got it.
Royals 4, Yankees 0 - Up next to leave the Yankee bats cold ... Zack Greinke, come on down!
