If you've come here looking for praise of the Spurs and Tim Duncan, then I suggest you leave now, because you won't find it here - ever.
Tim Duncan didn't hit a clutch shot to force the second overtime. He lucked out and hit a shot he never takes. There's nothing clutch about that at all. It's like picking some idiot out of the stands and asking him to hit a half-court shot. Occasionally the idiot hits it. Was he 'clutch'? Hell no. He was lucky, just like Duncan.
Now, once again, the loathsome Spurs - and their hideous brand of basketball - have the upper hand on the Suns. I don't care if the Spurs somehow wind up playing the Yankees in the second round of the playoffs - I'd root for the Yankees.
What drives me nuts about the Spurs is basically everything. Tim Duncan is the biggest whiner in NBA history, and he's NEVER committed a foul in his life. Even worse, he spreads it to his teammates, so the whole team whines incessantly. Ginobili brought the fine art of soccer flopping and taking dives to a level never seen before in the NBA. Even Vlade Divac is embarrassed by Ginobili. Tony Parker made an inexcusable rap album that my ears will never forgive him for. And Bruce Bowen, wow. Where do I even begin? How about this: If there's anyone I'd ever wish to get injured, it's him. The guy has systematically and intentionallyinjuredso many people during his career, it's a wonder he hasn't been sucker-punched in a game yet.
And then there's the "dynasty" talk. What dynasty? This team has never won back-to-back championships in its history. Call me when they win two in a row, then maybe I'll listen to some dynasty argument - and then shoot it down faster than Manu drops when he gets hit with a half-way stiff breeze.
Anyway, I'm not going to watch that Duncan clip. No sir. I prefer to watch this one instead.
To be fair, the Suns were really whiny today also. I thought the refs did a pretty good job today in a very good game but I really hope both team stop whining and just play on Tuesday.
I don't think I'd call Duncan's shot lucky. The guy can consistenly hit from 17 feet feet out, so its not like he doesn't have range.
I guess people forgot hit hit the three on the first try in the All-Star game, and the half-court shot in the Shooting Stars challenge. He can hit threes, probably 30-35%, it is his choice to play in the paint, where a Forward-Center belongs. Lucky... blah. That had clutch written all over it. That 0.4 Shaq-Fisher moment has been repaid, but not in full-- Spurs need to win this series to pay Shaq in FULL.
What i also don't get... Kobe Bryant cries out just as much as any other star in the NBA, including Duncan. No one bashes him. LeBron whines with contact too. Nothing. Dwyane Wade sometimes? Hmm. It's ooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnly Duncan who is the "big whiner" in the league.
Hideous brand of basketball... hah. They're playing the original style of basketball, play great defense, spread your offense, and have a good consistent flow of energy and players on the floor. Don't blame the Spurs, blame the rest of the NBA for not following those concepts. That's how you're supposed to play the game. If you want to watch crazy, sloppy, let's all run up the floor and no defense and blow the baskets off the court, then enjoy some USA basketball in the olympics.
look just quit hating on the spurs....the suns lost..and duncan is the best big man ever. and that shot was not lucky. so do everyone a favor and shut the hell up, and write something when you actually know something about basketball....GO SPURS Go...chris..look at all these haters...

well if he is not now,let him win 1 or 2 more rings than u and everyone else will think so.
Until they change the rules of the game like they did for Wilt (goal tending, 3 seconds, etc.) and Shaq (the final two minutes removing hack-a-Shaq), Duncan will not be the best big man ever.

he changed some things with referees, does that count as a 1/2 point?
The only rule change i see, is if the NBA didn't allow San Antonio in the Finals...
Ok I hate to admit it but Duncans 3 was lucky. Finley was clutch in his 3 to send it to OT, Duncan's was luck to send it into 2OT. But why are we calling out Duncan's shot as being lucky? Luck is a huge part of basketball. Every single player/team in this league has benefit from luck at one time or another.
The Suns had a HUGE opportunity to win this game. They were up by 16 and blew it. So don't hate on the Spurs for clawing their way back into it and winning.
I might admit that Tim Duncan has one skill I've seen him utilize better than any player I've ever seen, and that's puting the ball of the glass. He has such good touch.

I don't think u know about Tim like that. He has a jumper, and that play was drawn up for him, so lets think about it why would a coach draw up a must hit 3 point play for a guy that can't shoot. come now, stop hating

Stop hating? I'm a Spurs fan. Why would I hate on a guy from my favorite team?
Duncan shot 0-4 on 3's for the season and you think Pop would decide to set up a 3-point shot for Duncan when a PLAYOFF game was on the line? I don't think so.
