Tom Glavine and Mike Hampton have hit the Hampton List, John Smoltz is considering a move to the bullpen and Tim Hudson had pitched horribly in his last two outings. It was Panic! time at the Turner. Worry no more - well, at least not as much. Hudson was dealing last night: CG, 3 H, 0 ER, 10 K and his 11th career shutout.
"Considering the last few starts I've had were not exactly textbook for me, it was nice to come out here, give us a good chance to win, feel confident out there, make some pitches and miss some bats," said Hudson, back on track at 4-2 with a 2.95 ERA. "It's nice to go out there and make a statement and pitch deep into the game."Edison Volquez pitched well again for the Redlegs, keeping his ERA at 1.27.
Braves 2, Reds 0.
Tejada promises HR to sick kid Tejada delivered. Miguel also promised the kid he wasn't over 30-years-old, but that's another story. Houston hit three straight home runs, Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee followed with shots to the Crawford Boxes. Astros 7, Brewers 4.
Dodging Losses Another big night for a former Brave, and yes, it wasn't Andruw Jones. Rafael Furcal continued his big week with three more hits and four RBIs. Meanwhile, Jones lifted his big batting average to .161. LA has won seven straight. Dodgers 11, Rockies 6.
Jose Reyes nearly gets inside-the-park cycle Having already recorded a triple earlier in the game, Reyes tried to take a long shot off the center field wall into a home run. Not so much, not even close in fact, but I say if you've got the slightest chance at the cycle you go for it. Reyes' four hits and three runs lifted New York over Arizona. Micah Owings was walked twice in his two at-bats. Mets 7, DBacks 2.
