Blog Photo - Tim Lincecum throws 148 pitch no-hitterWhat was a mediocre year for Tim Lincecum suddenly turned sublime Saturday night. Lincecum threw his first career no-hitter in a 9-0 win over the Padres. It wasn't the cleanest no-hitter. He walked four batters and needed a whopping 148 pitches to complete the no-no. That isn't quite the highest number of pitches in a no-hitter. Edwin Jackson threw 149 pitches in his no-hitter in 2010.

Here is video of the final out.

Like most no-hitters, this one needed a great defensive play to keep it alive, which Hunter Pence provided in the 8th.

Lincecum came into this game with a 4.81 ERA. Time will tell if this will turn around his season, or if it’s just a blip, especially given the sheer number of pitches thrown. For now though, congratulations to Lincecum on adding another jewel to his fine career.

Who would have thought he would do it now?  We all thought it would happen when he was really on top of his game a few years ago...  But good for Timmy!
