Derrick Williams Traded for Mbah a Moute
According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Minnesota Timberwolves have traded forward Derrick Williams for Sacramento Kings forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. However, the trade will not be finalized until Mbah Moute passes his physical this week due to some knee concerns that the Timberwolves have concerning the defensive minded small forward.
The 22-year-old Williams was the second overall pick in the 2011 draft, but has been an enigma for the Wolves since he does not have a traditional position. Williams has great size as a NBA small forward, but lacks a jump shot to actually be an offensive threat. His more natural position is as a power forward, but at 6’8, he does not have the ability to guard the bigger power forwards in the Western Conference.
The 27-year-old Mbah a Moute, on the other hand, has the ability to play the small forward position along with the ability to play the power forward spot because of his great size.
