Although, Tiquan Underwood is still considered young in New England Patriots squad, there are a couple of NFL teams that would willingly grant the 24-year-old first team action in their squad. Impressive form by Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski is one of major reasons Underwood was overshadowed last season.

However, Underwood who is in his third NFL season and his fourth stint with the Patriots, believes he will have a better chance proving his worth to the Pats this season. The wide receiver from Rutgers was drafted by Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009 during the seventh round.

Last season, Underwood had three interceptions for 30 yards in five appearances. This year the 5-8, 184-pound wants to become a regular in the first team. Well, realistically that would be impossible but he can certainly start making an impact in the team.

With his ridiculous hairstyle, Underwood is already a popular figure among fans. In a recent interview on New England Patriots official website informed that football had been a part of his life since his early years.

“I would say playing Pop Warner, my first practice of contact football,” recalled Underwood. “I was anxious and nervous at the same time. I played in New Jersey for the Franklin Warriors. It was pretty fun. Actually, some of those guys are in the NFL now. Kyle Wilson is one, the corner for the Jets. He played on a few of those teams with me. It was a neat experience.”

The man who would play either as Batman or Joker in the movie he was given a chance further confided that even his first job was football related.

“It was actually working a football camp when I was in high school. At Notre Dame High School, we had a camp for kids, and I still get hit up by those kids on Twitter and Facebook, and they say, ‘Do you remember me when you coached the camp?'”

Underwood reckons that if his career hadn’t kicked off as an athlete he would have probably been in the broadcasting business.

“That's a great question,” Underwood said. “I'm more of a people-person, so, I would try to get into broadcasting, probably stay around the Rutgers area, whether it had to do with football or basketball. I really like college athletics.”

Underwood also revealed that he was a big Kobe Bryant fan and his guilty pleasure was eating candy.

“Man, I'm a candy fanatic. Gummy worms, Snickers, Reese's, you name it, I like it. I'm paying for that in dentist bills, plus, as an athlete, you're not supposed to consume much candy, so, I have to hold off. It's hard.”
