There are many charity and good cause poker events these days, but none of them compares to this one. Todd Bronson was raised by the famous poker star Doyle Bronson, which could mean he had a fabulous childhood and he was exposed to the famous world of poker, at professional levels. However, the good will and charity spirit is something you don't usually inherit from famous poker guru parents.
Last week, Todd Bronson has turned the poker gaming into a benevolent thing, hosting a sensational charity poker tournament. During the event, the cards master raised about 20,000 bucks for charity and managed to include many famous faces in the industry. The charity event took place in the Bay Area, the Leo Brian Foundation No-linit Texas Hold'em Charity Poker Tournament did a marvelous job in raising money for Camp Okizu, supporting the children with cancer.
Among the poker stars invited at the event there were some big names like Roy “the Oracle” Winston, Kathy “Poker Kat” Liebert, Hayt Corkins, Lane “Back-to-back” Flack and Allen Kessler. Moreover, the event was kindly sponsored by many popular online gaming sites. The theme of the poker night was also very inspired. They chose a dirty Western-flavored warehouse with a bar, into which 20 round poker tables were placed and complimented with a nasty pair of hot sports car.
To continue with the goodwill, the staff did a silent auction to raise even more money for the good cause. “La piece du resistance” was a 49er helmet signed by Joe Montana, Steve Young and Jerry Rice, which scored 1,000 bucks for the kids. It has been reported that someone snapped up a genuine comic art signed by Jennifer Harman, Phil Hellmuth and Doyle Brunson.
It’s just so amazing the way poker got out of the smoky back rooms, moved away from the aggressive cheats and gun slingers, to be used as such a merciful vehicle to bring humanitarian people together and generate massive good changes in people’s lives.
Overall, the fans, the audience, the kids, everyone won this poker game. However, besides the kids, Doug Fowler won the ultimate prize, as he'll be given the once-in-a-lifetime chance to go to Las Vegas for a whole weekend with Todd Brunson himself!
