Tom Crean Leaving Marquette to Become Indiana Basketball Head Coach
>7 days ago
Ironically, I was just getting started on a post questioning the direction of the Hoosiers basketball program.Looks like they figured it out.
Andy Katz of ESPN just reported that Tom Crean, former Marquette Golden Eagles head coach, will be named the next head man at Indiana. Judging from the Indiana Rivals.com site message board headlines, the fan base is rather pleased.
Crean spent a good portion of his assistant coach training in the Big Ten under Tom Izzo at Michigan State, so his transition to IU should be seamless. His top player at Marquette over the last three years, Dominic James, was recruited from right under the Hoosiers watch (Richmond, IN).
One thing you can be certain of with Tom Crean, he won't be breaking any rules and embarrassing the program. He'll still have to demonstrate he can recruit elite players, but nicely done, for a change.
