Top NFL free agents
NFL, Drew Brees

The Saints are at the top of the list... of teams who could lose valuable free agents

The Saints have been a damn good team for a few years now, but they'll need to take care of some serious business if they expect that to continue. According to Sporting News' list of the top 100 free agents, the Saints have the top 2 free agents, and the 7th ranked player as well. Drew Brees, guard Carl Nicks and WR Marques Colston could all potential be on their way out the door in New Orleans. Also, Tracy Porter and Robert Meachem are on the top 100 list.

Here's their top 10:
1. Drew Brees, QB, Saints
2. Carl Nicks, G, Saints
3. Ray Rice, RB, Ravens
4. Matt Flynn, QB, Packers
5. Mario Williams, DE, Texans
6. Vincent Jackson, WR, Chargers
7. Marques Colston, WR, Saints
8. Matt Forte, RB, Bears
9. Wes Welker, WR, Patriots
10. Cliff Avril, DE, Lions

I'm not sure if I'd rank Flynn so high after such a small sample size, but there are quite a few teams out there desperate for a QB, and Flynn showed some serious potential when he lit up the Lions in week 17.

Obviously, the Saints have the most to lose. Most likely, they'll hammer out a new deal with Brees, or they'll franchise him if it comes down to the wire. Losing him would be inconceivable. Nicks, Colston, Porter and Meachem might not all end up back in New Orleans, though.

Other teams have some guys that will be high on their priority list to keep, but none have as much prolific talent as the Saints with expiring contracts.

Check out the whole list over at Sporting News, and let us know which guys you'd like to see your team go after.

On a side note, Marshawn Lynch at #24 seems low to me.  Then again, he probably only has real value with the Seahawks.

The talk around Detroit is the Lions will Franchise Avril, but there's rumors he'll hold out come training camp time.....This could get ugly

Matt Flynn is too high on this list, I believe it's Green Bay's system that made him look good, we still haven't seen enough of him to determine how will he can play on a lesser team.

I like the 'Beck...but hey, Flynn has to be better than Jackson, plus Seattle getting Flynn and Washingotn or Miami taking Peyton, Browns got an easy choice with RG3...that being said, the Browns will draft Ryan Tannehill

I Like What You Did There. Lol

The Saints won't let Brees or Colston go without a fight, but I never noticed Nicks. The Texan's won't give up Williams because they need him for next year's playoff run, and FORGET the Ravens letting go of Ray Rice. I think Welker will leave Boston, and I'm not sure about the others.

I say Meach and Nicks are out and the one player (besides Brees) thats too valuable is Ray Rice...come on...w/o him they are farrrrrr from contenders...Flacco ain't gonna cut it

I just hope the Chiefs retain Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Carr. If Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry and Tony Moeaki are healthy, that team could be dangerous!

Moeaki scares everyone with Cassel at the helm

While I would love Seattle to go after a guy like Avril, it would scare me if they did because that means they were planning on reaching for a QB like Tannehill (who has 'BUST' written all over him) with the #11/12 pick.
