Toronto mayor Rob Ford has been the gift that keeps on giving lately, but the CFL's Toronto Argonauts are looking the latest gift horse in the mouth. Mayor Ford has made a habit of wearing an Argonauts jersey to work and about town lately, as the Argos are deep in the playoffs and facing Hamilton for the East Division Finals on Sunday. This would normally be a charming example of civic sports pride -- except today, when Mayor Ford wore an Argonauts jersey to declare, "It says that I wanted to eat her p****. I've never said that in my life to her; I would never do that. I'm happily married, I've got more than enough to eat at home."
In Mayor Ford's defense, he was denying that he'd used the phrase to an employee. But he did choose to repeat the phrase in its crudest and most off-color incarnation, and he did so wearing a Toronto Argonauts jersey. Get your daily Rob Ford fix in the amusing video footage of Ford's press conference denying that he'd gone downtown on a city employee.
Oh sure, it's funny -- but not to the Toronto Argonauts CFL team. "It's well-known that the Mayor is a big fan and supporter of the game of football," the team said in a statement on the Argonauts' official Twitter account. "The Toronto Argonauts organization is not in a position to comment on the manner of dress of public officials. The situation with respect to the Mayor and his leadership is unseemly at best. These latest remarks, while wearing our team’s jersey, are particularly disappointing given our organization’s work in the community to help youth deal with issues of bullying prevention. We hope for the benefit of the wonderful citizens of Toronto and this great city that this situation is resolved expeditiously."
Mayor Ford actually engaged in a little Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats trash talk before the whole "eat her p****" part of the interview. "The next thing, I want to call Mayor Brittania in Hamilton and tell him that we’re going to have to spank their little Tiger-Cats," Ford said. (Hamilton's mayor is actually Bob Bratina, not Brittania).
The most hysterical part of the press conference is CP24 reporter Katie Simpson's astonished reaction to the profanities she had just heard broadcast on live television. Give that one a watch below.
For the record, the ex-staffer in question denies any form of sex was had with Mayor Ford. Hey, I'd deny having sex with that guy, too!
