You may remember yesterday that we had a post on how the Rams have officially reached full scale mutiny mode. Running back Steven Jackson - on his own radio show - called out Linehan for benching quarterback Marc Bulger in favor of Trent Green. In addition to that, Bulger also apparently doesn't want to play for Linehan anymore. That's all pretty bad, to say the least.
Well, now it's getting even worse, if that's even possible.
Longtime Rams receiver Torry Holt said that when he heard Bulger got benched in favor of Green, he immediately went to Bulger and apologized for the entire offense for not helping Bulger out more.
"You know I was shocked, I was really shocked," Holt said. "First and foremost, I went up to Marc and I immediately apologized to him as a receiver and for our receiving group and for our offense for not making enough plays to give him an opportunity to stay on the football field with us as we move forward in the fourth week."
And so, Torry, what do you think of Linehan's decision to go with Green?.
"I'll keep those thoughts to myself and just go ahead and move forward with what we have," Holt said. "Trent is the quarterback for Sunday, and we have (Leonard Little) back, so let's talk about some of the positives."
Positives? There are no positives in St. Louis at all. This team is somehow making the Raiders look normal by comparison.
We've now got two key players on the team openly questioning the head coach's move to bench the starting quarterback. And actually, Jackson didn't question the move, he simply said flat out that it was a stupid decision by Linehan.
Holt also had this great quote about the Rams upcoming game against the Bills on Sunday.
It will give us a platform to escape this madness that is going on," Holt said
That's a pretty amazing quote to hear from some one who isn't a Raider.I'm not really sure what exactly the Rams are waiting for in order to fire Linehan, since it's clear he's lost all authority with the team at this point. I just hope that somehow Linehan manages to stay on as coach all year. If that happens, I guarantee you this team goes 0-16. Even better, we might see Steven Jackson take a handoff and punt the ball into the stands. I would definitely pay good money to see that.
