Tragedy hits Nascar today
4/9/08

Brienne Davis, a female inspector for NASCAR on race weekends, died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a one-car accident near Huntersville, N.C. She was 28.

NASCAR released the following statement: "We are deeply saddened at the loss of NASCAR Sprint Cup official Brienne Davis. She was a key member of our team of inspectors and will be missed by the NASCAR community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends."

Davis, a Louisiana native, began working as an inspector full time in 2004 and her primary job was race-day inspection of the carburetors and manifolds, in addition to tear downs of the top two finishers and pole-sitter.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this here. So very, very sad. I'm listening to Claire B. Lang on XM right now. She has stated several times that Brienne was such a nice lady. So young, just so sad.

Thanks for letting us know, hadn't seen (or heard) this yet.  My thoughts also with her friends and family.
