Trailblazers Inform Greg Oden He'll Be the 1st Pick in the NBA Draft
Ric Bucher has reported that the Greg Oden camp has been informed that he will indeed be the number one pick in Thursday's NBA Draft.

I know, I know. You're stunned.

Kevin Durant is going to be an incredible player. Probably win more NBA MVP Awards, score more points, be a bigger marketing phenom, etc. The one category he won't have on Oden are wins, and more importantly titles.

The whole city of Portland, and all Trailblazers fan should be celebrating tonight and all day tomorrow. You know, all offseason is perfectly acceptable.

Sadly, this also means Draft Kevin Durant's cause went unfulfilled, but a stellar effort nonetheless.

Now time to consider who Seattle will take. Atlanta, you're on the clock.  Discuss. (AP Photo/Kathy Willens)

Worst kept secret in Portland.  The choice was never in doubt.  But the national media bought the Portland marketing campaign anyway... hook, line, and sinker.  John Canzano of the Oregonian says that Blazers were starting to look a bit "silly" playing up the Oden vs. Durant thing on the web and billboards.  I have to agree.

I think it was smart of the Blazers to play that up, and I'm sure there's a good chance David Stern and Kevin Pritchard had a conversation about that. I'm not sure anyone bought that they were actually going to take Durant, anyway, but at least to not publically announce it was smart to build up some attention and interest for the organization and league.

I would have taken durant or if taking oden they better trade ZR to get another draft pick or a good guard. I would do this take durant trade darius miles and the first pick of next year and talk to sonics in getting Lewis. With Roy, Lewis, Durant, Randolph, and Aldrigh you cant go wrong with that and that is a very young team. That team can hold for at least 5 years. But the blazers wont do that cuz they have no balls.

On a team that's already guard and forward heavy, the Blazers don't need any "balls" by taking Oden.  It's a no-brainer.  Durant will be a star, it just won't be for Portland.

This is the right choice and everyone knows it.  The only reason there was ever any discussion is because ESPN wanted to build some drama for the draft.  Oden is the right pick, both will have great careers and that is that.

I understand he is the right pick. Im just being a little gutsy thats all.  Im not trying to dog the blazers but last time they took a big man and not the guard that guard won six championships and is the best player of all time.

The best part of the whole thing was getting rid of Zbo. :) Oh, and that Oden is a superstar in the making.
