Trailblazers turn down Kevin Garnett for #1 Pick
That's not official, but judging by comments made from Jason Quick of the Oregonian, You Been Blinded has done the deductive reasoning for us.

Portland has likely turned down Kevin Garnett and Allen Iverson for the #1.

From Quick
: “I know that two Western Conference teams have offered their superstars in return for the number one pick… And they are Hall of Famers and the Blazers have turned them down on both.”

We touched on this hypothetical topic last week and the general consensus was that Garnett fell right on border. I said I'd have to say no to Garnett but now that's not such a pipe dream I'm reconsidering do to the potential title implications.

I'd turn down Iverson, but Garnett? Would you rather wait for multiple titles 5-10 years down the road or win 1 within the next 4 years. I choose the latter.

I am totally biased because I am a huge KG fan but there is no way I don't do this.  KG still has 5-7 All-Star caliber years left.  I belive Oden IS going to be great, but KG IS ALREADY great.  He is selfless, an intense competitor and wants nothing more than to win a championship.  He has had no one on his team and would be thankful just to play with the likes of Roy and Randolph.

It's a tough call.  I figured Garnett would've had several championships by now.  But he hasn't.  Is there something to be said for that?

He would be great around Roy and Aldridge, but I still believe that championships will be won with a dominant center, like many other teams in the past.

Yes. Kevin McHale.

No one wants to win more, and no one is more capable of winning with some help. That said, it's clearly not a crime to stick with Oden. More fun that way.

I love KG. But I'm not sure he isn't kinda past the "best if used by" date. Seems like that may have come and gone. We don't need an aging superstar. We had one of those in Pippen. We need fresh horses like Roy, Aldridge and Oden.
