Over a month after placing an original round tender on Tramaine Brock, the San Francisco 49ers finally wrapped up the signing after the cornerback agreed to his tender on Monday. The one-year deal is worth $1.323 million, and will allow Tramaine Brock to hit the free agent market as an unrestricted free agent following the 2013 season.
The free agent tender was signed on the same day as the San Francisco 49ers began their first day of offseason workout program, thus reuniting Tramaine Brock with the rest of the team.
Tramaine Brock joins a cornerback group that features just as much competition as anywhere else across the San Francisco 49ers’ roster. Besides the recent addition of Tramaine Brock and Nnamdi Asomugha earlier this month, the San Francisco 49ers’ cornerback depth chart includes Carlos Rogers, Perrish Cox, Tarell Brown and Chris Culliver.
Tramaine Brock was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of BU by the San Francisco 49ers in 2010, and went on to earn a spot on the team’s roster in his rookie year. In 2011, Tramaine Brock posted career high with two interceptions as he appeared in 11 games that season. Last season, Tramaine Brock played all 16 regular season games, combining 16 tackles and a forced fumble for the San Francisco 49ers. Tramaine Brock also tied for the team lead with 15 tackles on the special teams.
Although the 5-foot-10, 197 pound Tramaine Brock falls somewhere on the lower end of the cornerback group, he has been a valuable depth player for the San Francisco 49ers over the past three seasons. The 24-year-old Tramaine Brock will again have plenty of opportunities to work his way up to the Week 1 roster in 2013.
