<img id="\"photo_876706\"" data-cke-saved-src="\" src="\"\"" style="\"float:" right;="" \"="">Former New York Jets cornerback Cliff Harris was arrested for a second-time last week after an altercation with his girlfriend outside a restaurant in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Police were dispatched at around 10:00 p.m. Friday night after a witness reported a disturbance at local Buffalo Wild Wings. The couple who initially started off with a disagreement in the restaurant took the fight to the parking lot where witnesses saw Cliff Harris pushing around his girlfriend, according to Hillsboro Police Lt. Reimann.
Cliff Harris was arrested for alleged domestic harassment following eye witness report of the incident, although his girlfriend did not press charges. He appeared cooperative with police officers during the arrest, Lt. Reimann said.
The 22-year-old Cliff Harris was released from Washington County Jail on Saturday afternoon after posting a bail of $1,000. Cliff Harris is due to appear in court on Tuesday.
Cliff Harris’ most recent arrest comes less than a week after the New York Jets parted ways with him. The New York Jets released Cliff Harris as well as defensive end/ linebacker Claude Davis last Tuesday, only a day after their arrest in New York on marijuana possession charges.
The former undrafted free agent Cliff Harris joined the league as after being signed by the Philadelphia Eagles on 29 April last year. However, Cliff Harris was released by the Philadelphia Eagles less than four months later.
He had been signed to a reserves/future contract with the New York Jets in early January.
The former Ducks cornerback Cliff Harris’ collegiagate career was also headlined by a series of -field incidents with legal implications- including marijuana possession and several violations. Most famously in June 2011, Cliff Harris was arrested for driving with a suspended license while over the legal 100 mph legal limit on Interstate 5 in his home town of Oregon. When an Oregon state trooper caught the hint of burnt marijuana coming from the car and question about it, Cliff Harris told the officer “we smoked it all.”
That fall, Oregon coach Chip Kelly suspended Cliff Harris for the Ducks’ season opener. Four months later, Cliff Harris was suspended from the Oregon program for violating team policies.
While Cliff Harris has talent, he risks fading away to irrelevance in the NFL by screwing up each chance he gets to prove himself. Cliff Harris has yet to play his NFL debut in a regular season game. But with press he’s been getting following his offseason arrests Cliff Harris is quickly burning up potential chances of getting that shot.
