Rockies Nightmare Season Continues With Tulo's Surgery
As if this week hasn't been a culmination of mismanagement, poor planning, and bad luck, the Rockies announced on their twitter feed about an hour ago that Troy Tulowitzki will undergo surgery tomorrow in Philadelphia to repair an athletic pubalgia in his left groin area. It's basically a sports hernia operation that will keep Tulo sidelined for at least 8 weeks.
This will be the longest the Rockies have ever been without Tulo since he implanted himself as a mainstay and cornerstone of this team in 2007. While this is definitely a blow, the timing may actually be a blessing for the Rockies. Tulowitzki has been battling leg injuries off and on for a good part of the last two seasons, and with the Rockies making a better run at a 100 loss season than a playoff birth, knowing what the cause of these problems is and getting them corrected is for the best. There is no reason to rush back from rehab and just chalk this up as a lost season all around.
