Twins win 7 in a row; 9 of last 10

The comparisons have been made for a couple weeks here in the Twin Cities area, and now with their 7th win in a row, the Minnesota Twins are continuing to make almost an exact duplicate of their 2006 selves.

The offseason moves prove to be just about non-existent as the FA veteran signings of Craig Monroe, Mike Lamb, and Adam Everett have been nothing but ghosts of their former (average-at-best) seasons, and instead it is the young talent that proves to be the key of how to win ball games up here in Minnesota.

An array of first to third year players from Alexi Casilla, Brian Buscher, Brendan Harris, and Carlos Gomez that are creating the sparks for an offense, that while is dead last in the Majors in HR's, have scored a total of 365 runs which is 4th in the AL. While the constant of 1 to 2 hits per game of Morneau, Mauer and Cuddyer is what seems to keep those rallies going.

Their hot streak is coming again, like in 2006, in interleague play as with tonight's win @ San Diego, the Twins improve to 10-3 against the National League.

As of late, their saving grace seems to be the pitching as Livan Hernandez has produced with back to back quality starts after a month of struggles. Following form are the young rotation of guys that are running on fumes with Slowey, Blackburn, Baker, and the lefty Perkins with all quality starts as well in about 14 straight ballgames. With the starters producing, the bullpen is simply starting to relax, and finishing off the games with a lot more ease. Joe Nathan capped off save number 20 out of 22 opportunities on Tuesday.

With the Twins starting to heat up, it is reflective in the standings as well, and are just 1.5 GB of the White Sox in the American League Central Division.

While Minnesota finishes off the last two games at San Diego, they will again head up to Minnesota for a season long 9-game home stand against the Brewers, Tigers, and Indians. All seems to be well for Twins fans everywhere, where a very frightening early-Spring comes a calming, intriguing, and hopeful Summer.
