The Columbus news station reported that the two were taken to the Shawnee Hills police department at around 2:30 a.m. Both were found urinating between buildings and fled the scene when confronted.
They were released around an hour later after posting a $2,000 bond.
What at first seemed to be yet another infamous OSU scandal waiting to unravel has now been officially dismissed. From the description of the statement, it appears as if the two were caught off guard while intoxicated and made the ill-advised decision to run away.
If they would have simply spoken to the police, the situation would not have escalated, as they would have likely just been asked to leave and go home.
It is unlikely that Stoneburner or Mewhort will face suspension, but it has not been ruled out and both the university and NCAA may take action in the coming weeks.
Stoneburner—the team leader in touchdown receptions (seven) last season—is projected as Urban Meyer's No. 1 tight end on the post-spring depth chart, while Mewhort is listed as the starting left tackle.

I would run too...I would also hope 2 football players could escape a cop that has the duty of looking for public urination

It was the running away part that got them in trouble. Still, I don't see why it was that big of a deal. Just another unwanted spotlight on the program.

Big Deal...public urination...pay the fine and move on. Jeff Reed of the Steelers peed all over a parking lot and asked the cops to fight him and a fellow TE, who was also peeing. Nothing happened to him.
