The new middleweight champion Chris Weidman speaks to the media after UFC 162
UFC 162 ended with a spectacular and surprising knockout victory by the new middleweight champion Chris Weidman. Along with the title changing hands, five men walked away with an extra $50,000 dollars in post-fight bonuses—Frankie Edgar, Charles Oliveira, Cub Swanson, Dennis Siver and Chris Weidman.
Edgar and Oliveira earned the first ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus for their exciting back-and-forth match that set a frantic pace for three rounds. Edgar earned a unanimous decision victory to go along with the extra post-fight bonus money.
The second ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus was award to Cub Swanson and Dennis Siver for opening up the pay-per-view with a hard-hitting and thrilling three-round affair. Swanson was able to finish Siver in the third round.
And last but not least, Chris Weidman earned the “Knockout of the Night’ bonus for his spectacular, surprising, and streak-ending knockout of the former middleweight champ Anderson Silva.
