It has been nearly two years since Anthony Pettis delivered the kick-heard-around-the-world at the final WEC event, and forever cemented his and Benson Henderson’s name into the MMA high-light reel hall-of-fame. During the final round of their championship fight Pettis delivery a jaw-dropping kick while spring boarding off the side of the cage. The kick ended up being the edge Pettis needed to earn a decision victory from the judges.
In the ensuing two years Benson Henderson went on to dominate the lightweight division after dethroning former champion Frankie Edgar. Pettis, on the other hand, has dealt with a myriad of injuries that have derailed his own title aspirations. However, through another series of injuries—to himself and TJ Grant—‘Showtime’ is finally in the position to fight for the UFC lightweight title.
