Benson Henderson proposes to girlfriend after his main-event victory on FOX
UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson celebrated his slit-decision victory over former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez during the main-event of the UFC on Fox 7, by proposing to his girlfriend during the post-fight interview.
Henderson interrupted UFC commentator Joe Rogan as he tried to interview him after his grueling 25-minute title defense, by telling Rogan “I gotta see about a girl real quick.” Henderson then got on one knee and began to propose to his girlfriend with an impromptu speech “I’m not perfect, I never have been. But you make happier every single day. More than any man has the right to be. I love you. Will you marry me?”
The only blemish on an otherwise magical night for Henderson was the fact that the San Jose crowed continued to boo during his proposal. The fans in the HP Pavilion were pro Melendez and begin to boo the split decision, as many thought the former Strikeforce champ had done enough to earn a victory. The unfortunate part is that the fans continued to boo during the proposal.
